Chepstow Church

Chepstow Church in Gwent has many churches for different religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Chepstow is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dipping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the basis for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Chepstow community then it's actually extraordinary numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Chepstow to be a good spot to inhabit, where persons get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Chepstow church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
