Longsight Church

Longsight Church in Greater Manchester has a lot of churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Longsight is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been sinking for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the cause for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Longsight community then it's truly remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Longsight to be a splendid place to dwell, where inhabitants get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Longsight church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-gay rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
