Levenshulme Church

Levenshulme Church in Greater Manchester has numerous churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Levenshulme is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been sinking for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the explanation for the decline is in simple terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Levenshulme community then it is really astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Levenshulme to be a fantastic place to be alive, where people get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Levenshulme church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly anybody desires to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
