Hackney Church

Hackney Church in Greater London has several churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Hackney is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the explanation for the decline is just that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Hackney community then it is actually remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Hackney to be a splendid place to inhabit, where persons get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Hackney church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
