Stroud Church

Stroud Church in Gloucestershire has various churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Stroud is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the reason for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Stroud community then it's really startling figures are going down. Surely we all want our Stroud to be a splendid location to inhabit, where persons get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Stroud church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good spot to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
