Stonehouse Church

Stonehouse Church in Gloucestershire has various churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Stonehouse is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been falling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the reason for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Stonehouse community then it's actually remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Stonehouse to be a good place to be alive, where individuals get along, they help each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Stonehouse church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
