Coleford Church

Coleford Church in Gloucestershire has many churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Coleford is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the cause for the decline is just that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Coleford community then it's in reality shocking numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Coleford to be a good location to live, where persons get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Coleford church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
