Charlton Kings Church

Charlton Kings Church in Gloucestershire has many churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Charlton Kings is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the basis for the decline is in simple terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Charlton Kings community then it is truly astounding numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Charlton Kings to be a fantastic place to be alive, where people get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Charlton Kings church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual language in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good place to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
