Lochgelly Church

Lochgelly Church in Fife has numerous churches for distinctive religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Lochgelly is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the basis for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Lochgelly community then it is in reality shocking figures are going down. Surely we all want our Lochgelly to be a good spot to be alive, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Lochgelly church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-homosexual rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good spot to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
