Ilford Church

Ilford Church in Essex has numerous churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Ilford is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the cause for the decline is in simple terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Ilford community then it's in reality astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Ilford to be a good place to inhabit, where people get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Ilford church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-gay rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good place to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
