Brentwood Church

Brentwood Church in Essex has various churches for different religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Brentwood is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the rationale for the decline is in simple terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Brentwood community then it is in reality astonishing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Brentwood to be a good place to inhabit, where people get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Brentwood church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
