Benfleet Church

Benfleet Church in Essex has many churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Benfleet is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the grounds for the decline is just that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Benfleet community then it is really remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Benfleet to be a splendid spot to be alive, where persons get along, they assist one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Benfleet church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly a soul desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as resident schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good spot to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
