Cardigan Church

Cardigan Church in Dyfed has various churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Cardigan is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the explanation for the decline is simply that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Cardigan community then it's in reality shocking numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Cardigan to be a great location to be alive, where individuals get along, they help each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Cardigan church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, in view of his anti-gay rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful position to be - a good place to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
