Corfe Castle Church

Corfe Castle Church in Dorset has several churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Corfe Castle is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been sinking for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the basis for the decline is in simple terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Corfe Castle community then it is in reality extraordinary figures are going down. Surely we all want our Corfe Castle to be a good location to be alive, where people get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Corfe Castle church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because hardly anybody wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, considering his anti-gay rhetoric in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
