Fivemiletown Church

Fivemiletown Church in County Tyrone has a lot of churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Fivemiletown is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been dipping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the rationale for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Fivemiletown community then it's in reality remarkable numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Fivemiletown to be a good place to be alive, where inhabitants get along, they help each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Fivemiletown church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
