Augher Church

Augher Church in County Tyrone has a lot of churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Augher is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the cause for the decline is in simple terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Augher community then it's truly astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Augher to be a wonderful spot to live, where persons get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Augher church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
