Bishop Auckland Church

Bishop Auckland Church in County Durham has a lot of churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Bishop Auckland is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been falling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the population.

We think the explanation for the decline is just that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Bishop Auckland community then it's actually astounding figures are going down. Surely we all want our Bishop Auckland to be a great place to inhabit, where individuals get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Bishop Auckland church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, in view of his anti-gay speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
