Bangor Church

Bangor Church in County Down has several churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Bangor is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the rationale for the decline is in basic terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Bangor community then it's truly remarkable numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Bangor to be a splendid location to inhabit, where persons get along, they help one another in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Bangor church and pressure for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful space to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the cemetery.
