Larne Church

Larne Church in County Antrim has a lot of churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Larne is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been dipping for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the basis for the decline is simply that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Larne community then it is actually startling figures are going down. Surely we all want our Larne to be a wonderful location to inhabit, where inhabitants get along, they assist each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Larne church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly anybody wants to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual rhetoric in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good place to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
