Bushmills Church

Bushmills Church in County Antrim has numerous churches for diverse religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Bushmills is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, in spite of everything Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the basis for the decline is in simple terms that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Bushmills community then it is really remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Bushmills to be a wonderful spot to inhabit, where individuals get along, they help each other in times of need and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Bushmills church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful place to be - a good spot to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
