Fowey Church

Fowey Church in Cornwall has many churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Fowey is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been dropping for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the populace presiding at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the grounds for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Fowey community then it's actually extraordinary numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Fowey to be a great spot to live, where people get along, they assist one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Fowey church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody desires to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
