Boscastle Church

Boscastle Church in Cornwall has several churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Boscastle is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, however Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the basis for the decline is simply that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Boscastle community then it's actually startling figures are going down. Surely we all want our Boscastle to be a great spot to dwell, where people get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Boscastle church and pressure for change, you want to assist, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, various people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet space to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
