Hartlepool Church

Hartlepool Church in Cleveland has numerous churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Hartlepool is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been sinking for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the basis for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our Hartlepool community then it is really astounding numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Hartlepool to be a wonderful place to dwell, where persons get along, they help each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Hartlepool church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly a soul wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, scores of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-gay words in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very peaceful spot to be - a good space to ruminate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
