Menstrie Church

Menstrie Church in Clackmannanshire has numerous churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Menstrie is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the explanation for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Menstrie community then it's in reality remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Menstrie to be a good place to dwell, where persons get along, they help one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Menstrie church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay rhetoric in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good space to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a diversion that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
