Winsford Church

Winsford Church in Cheshire has numerous churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Winsford is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been falling for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the residents.

We think the explanation for the decline is in simple terms that people don't believe in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to understand peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Winsford community then it's in reality remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Winsford to be a great spot to dwell, where people get along, they assist one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Winsford church and plea for change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as native schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, a lot of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, considering his anti-gay words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest tombstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
