Eyemouth Church

Eyemouth Church in Berwickshire has various churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and Eyemouth is no exception.

Alas church attendance has been tumbling for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population attending at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the people.

We think the cause for the decline is in simple terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it's easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Eyemouth community then it is truly remarkable figures are going down. Surely we all want our Eyemouth to be a splendid place to live, where people get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Eyemouth church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly anybody desires to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, loads of people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good space to reflect on the things that are going on in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
