Datchet Church

Datchet Church in Berkshire has a lot of churches for various religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Datchet is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, still Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the cause for the decline is in simple terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the world and the economy in a bad way it is straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you reflect on all the good things that Churches represent in our Datchet community then it's actually remarkable numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Datchet to be a fantastic place to be alive, where individuals get along, they assist each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Datchet church and make a request change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because hardly anybody wishes to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as local schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, many people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-homosexual speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a diversion that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
