Keith Church

Keith Church in Banffshire has many churches for various religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is frequent for a town to have more than one church and Keith is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been falling for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the population presiding at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the explanation for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the wealth of the nation in a bad way it is straightforward to appreciate peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the central values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Keith community then it's in reality astonishing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Keith to be a great location to live, where individuals get along, they assist one another in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Keith church and demand change, you want to assist, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wishes to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let's get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, impoverished and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope to do so in more than six hundred years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, countless people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien recently walked out after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, considering his anti-gay speech-making in bygone times, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good place to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children amused for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
