Aberlour Church

Aberlour Church in Banffshire has many churches for separate religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Aberlour is no exception.

Unfortunately church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once every month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the grounds for the decline is just that people do not have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our judgment the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you ruminate on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Aberlour community then it is truly astonishing numbers are going down. Surely we all want our Aberlour to be a splendid spot to live, where persons get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people give to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Aberlour church and demand change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as community schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, humble and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, in view of his anti-homosexual speech-making in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet place to be - a good spot to reflect on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
