West Kilbride Church

West Kilbride Church in Ayrshire has a lot of churches for assorted religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is common for a town to have more than one church and West Kilbride is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been tumbling for the last fifty years in the UK, with 15% of the population presiding at least once per month, nevertheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the basis for the decline is in basic terms that people do not have faith in God any more, with violence raging across the planet and the economy in a bad way it's easy to understand peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the fundamental values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches represent in our West Kilbride community then it's really startling figures are going down. Surely we all want our West Kilbride to be a splendid spot to live, where individuals get along, they help one another in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your West Kilbride church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your community chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a better goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get organized and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as neighborhood schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, lowly and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a nice light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times quit after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into account his anti-gay language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are happening in your life at the present time.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest memorial..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep children smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they run/walk round the graveyard.
