Newmilns Church

Newmilns Church in Ayrshire has a lot of churches for distinct religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is conventional for a town to have more than one church and Newmilns is no exception.

Regrettably church attendance has been sinking for the last 50 years in the UK, with 15% of the population attending at least once every month, nonetheless Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the populace.

We think the rationale for the decline is in basic terms that people don't have faith in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it is easy to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our estimation the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the core values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you think on all the good things that Churches stand for in our Newmilns community then it is truly amazing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Newmilns to be a fantastic spot to inhabit, where persons get along, they help each other in times of hardship and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Newmilns church and plea for change, you want to help, and you think it is only right and proper that the rest of your neighborhood chip in and help with things. The UK is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a superior goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get as one and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have worked together with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of people such as the lonely, meager and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light of late with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times deserted after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men training to be priests, taking into consideration his anti-homosexual words in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet position to be - a good place to cogitate on the things that are happening in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as kids was to find the oldest gravestone..i.e. the earliest date, that is a game that can keep children pleased for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the cemetery.
