Cumnock Church

Cumnock Church in Ayrshire has a lot of churches for different religious faiths such as Anglican, Baptist and Methodist. It is regular for a town to have more than one church and Cumnock is no exception.

Sadly church attendance has been dropping for the last 50 years in the United Kingdom, with 15% of the populace attending at least once per month, notwithstanding Atheists and Agnostics are still in a minority, representing 33% of the inhabitants.

We think the grounds for the decline is in basic terms that people do not believe in God any more, with wars raging across the Earth and the economy in a bad way it's straightforward to comprehend peoples lack of faith. In our opinion the Church needs to be re-branded, if you think of the staple values of Church such as togetherness, family, marriage and community leaving aside God for a second! If you contemplate on all the good things that Churches represent in our Cumnock community then it is truly astonishing figures are going down. Surely we all want our Cumnock to be a good place to be alive, where individuals get along, they assist each other in times of need and people offer to each other without asking anything back in return. So what we are asking is for you to go along to your Cumnock church and make a request change, you want to help, and you think it's only right and proper that the rest of your district chip in and help with things. This country is on its knees because nobody wants to work to a greater goal...it is time for change...come on people..let us get together and make this happen

Churches in the past and future have collaborated with other organisations such as regional schools, groups such as the beavers, cubs and scouts as well as being prominent in assisting other groups of inhabitants such as the lonely, poor and abused. The church is seen as doing good causes which sees them in a good light.

Churches have been seen in a dim light recently with the pope resigning, the first pope in more than 600 years, and nobody was entirely sure of the reason why, numerous people have speculated that it is not just a matter of the pope getting older and not being able to carry out his job to the fullest.

The scottish Cardinal Keith O'Brien in recent times resigned after admitting sexually inappropriate moves to young men schooling to be priests, bearing in mind his anti-homosexual language in the past, this was seen as "do as I say not as I do"!

On the lighter side of things churches are seen as a very quiet spot to be - a good space to contemplate on the things that are going on in your life at the present moment.

A game we used to play as children was to find the oldest headstone..i.e. the earliest date, that's a game that can keep kids smiling for a while as well as giving them good exercise as they walk/run round the graveyard.
